Les femmes de souf 

Intertwined stories of women like birds in a cage waiting for what’s next‭, ‬women crossing countries‭, ‬crossing seas because of a revolution that put their country on pause or simply destroyed it‭. ‬Before the war‭, ‬these women were dressmakers‭, ‬weavers‭, ‬textile manufacturers for local sourcing and for the many tourists visiting‭. ‬Their stories‭, ‬their extraordinary will and resistance are the base of this project‭. ‬Les Femmes de Souf brings us on the road between three countries and two continents with one central thread‭: ‬The souf or wool in English‭.‬

This project is a collaboration between the designer Maya Kaadan x Evelyna Leferink with the Syrian refugee women based in Geneva‭.‬
